Obsolete Terms
I'm writing this while working in a bank the day after Thanksgiving. Hence much much boredom.
Much like VHS cassettes, check books, and the letter "c", in ten years the term "Bank Holiday" is going to cease to exist, to be replaced by the term "Corporate Holiday." I have many friends who work in other, non-financial cubicle jobs, and they're all sleeping in their warm beds right now.
Unfortunately, as more and more banks become more and more "convenient," they're going to find an opportunity to bring in more money on days like today. Other "Bank Holidays" like Veterans Day, Martin Luther King Day, & Columbus Day, corporations are closed while we bank folk continue to work.
Am I cheesed because I have to work today instead of being a sociology dork at the Mall of America? Yeah, just a touch.
