From an email I just got for Spider-Man 3, and they make it known that it's not a black-and-white photo, it's a black suit.

mmmmm....
Or at least, maybe, a hint that Venom somehow comes from Spider-Man, much like he did in the comic, with Spidey's black-costume-turned-alien-symbiote?
